What are tigernuts?


Tigernuts are nutrient dense root vegetables known to be existing since ancient Egypt. They are actually not nuts! They are root tubers like beets, carrots, turnips.They grow in various countries in Africa and some parts of Europe.

Tigernuts are a natural source of prebiotics also high in Fibre, Iron, Protein, Vitamin E and other essential minerals. In West Africa it is used to make a refreshing milk drink known as Kunun Aya in Nigeria and Atadwe pudding in Ghana.

Tigernuts are drought resistant as they require little to no water to grow making them an environment friendly plant.
